Today we are wrapping up our 30 Day CJ-7 Restore. 30 days is really just a number to give you an idea of how long it might take to bring a 30 year old vehicle to a visual and practical comparison of its former self. 30 Years, 30 Days.

The owners of the CJ-7 purchased it brand new off the show room floor and over the years it became a member of the family. Unfortunately, this member of the family was showing its age. After sitting down with the owners, we came up with a restoration plan that included the following:

• Reproduction Body Tub
• Body Mounts
• Complete Stainless Steel Body Hardware
• Tail Gate
• Windshield Frame
• Howell Fuel Injection Kit
• D.U.I. Distributor
• 2 1/2″ Lift Kit
• New Aluminum Mod Wheels
• New 32″ Tires
• Factory Roll Bar
• Removed all gauges, switches, fenders, etc.
• New Paint Job!

The great thing about a project like this is that you have a lot of freedom to do things you didn’t have the option to do back in 1985. The biggest of which is to select a custom paint color. As you can see, the owners went with a darker red that looks absolutely fantastic in the sun. They matched the paint color with all new chrome body hardware (hinges, dash panels, hood catches, etc.) that really POPPED against the new paint job.

All told, the “30 Day Restoration” should be a consideration if you are torn between buying a new Jeep, or spending roughly half as much and breathing new life into a Jeep that is on the verge of being a classic.
